Premium Evening Desert

Best Time for a Desert Safari in Dubai (Month by Month)

A desert safari is possible every day of the year in Dubai, but the experience changes a lot with the season and the time of day. Here is how to pick the best month and time slot for your trip.

Best Months: October to April

From October to April the desert is at its most pleasant. Daytime temperatures sit between 24°C and 32°C, and evenings in the dunes are cool and comfortable – in December and January you may even want a light jacket after sunset. This is peak season, so book a few days in advance, especially around Christmas, New Year and Eid.

Shoulder Months: May and September

May and September are warm but manageable, especially on an evening safari. Prices can be slightly lower and camps are quieter. Bring a hat and plenty of water for the afternoon part of the trip.

Summer: June to August

Summer is hot – often above 40°C during the day. Safaris still run every day, and many guests enjoy them, but timing matters. Choose the evening safari, which leaves around 3:00 PM and reaches the camp as temperatures fall, or a morning safari that finishes before the midday heat. Camps provide shade, water and cold drinks.

Month-by-Month Summary

  • January–February: cool evenings, perfect for all ages
  • March–April: warm days, ideal sunsets, very popular
  • May: getting hot, evenings still pleasant
  • June–August: very hot – evening or early morning only
  • September: hot days, cooling evenings
  • October–December: excellent weather, peak season

Evening or Morning – Which Time of Day Is Best?

The evening safari is the classic choice: dune bashing in the afternoon, sunset in the dunes, then a camp with camel rides, henna, entertainment and a BBQ dinner. It is the best option for a complete experience. The morning safari is shorter, cooler and quieter – ideal for photographers, summer visitors and anyone who prefers an early night. Catching the Perfect Sunset

Sunset in Dubai ranges from about 5:30 PM in winter to around 7:15 PM in summer. Our drivers time the dune drive so you reach the best viewpoint just before the sun goes down. Have your camera ready – the colours change quickly.

Ramadan and Holidays

During Ramadan, desert camps still operate but entertainment may be quieter and food is served after sunset (iftar). Over public holidays, demand is high, so book early.
